Press Release: Driver Investigation for Marijuana Possession

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAU #39 School Bus Driver Investigated for Marijuana Possession

Amherst, NH – October 30, 2018 – Earlier this afternoon, I was notified that a school bus driver who provides special education transportation for our students was investigated by the Amherst Police Department for suspicion of marijuana possession. This event occurred at Amherst Middle School during afternoon dismissal. A relief driver was dispatched to the school and safely transported each student to their home.

Each parent or guardian of the students involved were notified directly about the incident.

The driver in question is not (nor was ever) an employee of the SAU and will no longer transport any of our students. I applaud our special education transportation provider, Caring Hands Transportation, for their swift and appropriate response to this issue.

Any issues related to the criminal investigation can be directed to the Amherst Police Department.
