SAU #39 Board Chair, Amy Facey, Announces Next SAU #39 Superintendent of Schools

Chair of the SAU #39 Board, Amy Facey, announces the selection of its next Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Adam Steel. After a comprehensive search process culminating in a Meet the Candidate Event on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 involving school tours, an afternoon forum for staff and students, an evening forum for community members, and a final interview with board members, the SAU #39 Board voted unanimously to elect Mr. Steel as Superintendent of Schools.
The Board is pleased with the selection of Adam Steel, who is currently the Business Administrator for SAU #39, serving the school districts of Amherst, Mont Vernon, and Souhegan Cooperative. “We are confident that Adam’s experience, coupled with his first-hand knowledge of our school districts, will serve him exceptionally well. Throughout the vetting process, Adam successfully demonstrated the skills and attributes sought by the Board for this critically important leadership role. We look forward to the application of his unique talents and abilities in his service to SAU #39."
Prior to his current position as Business Administrator, Mr. Steel was Director of Business, Finance, and Operations for SAU #95/ SAU #28 (Windham / Pelham). Mr. Steel was responsible for the business and financial operations, budget preparation, facilities and grounds, school nutrition services, transportation, and life safety operations. He also played a key role in collective bargaining, organizational development, executive recruitment, and overall district leadership.
Additionally, he served as Director of Technology in the Pelham School District responsible for implementing an educational technology strategy that enhanced student learning and increased teacher instructional effectiveness. He developed long-range information technology and educational technology plans that were positively received by taxpayers, educators, and administrators. In the Litchfield School District, he was the technology coordinator. Earlier in his career, Mr. Steel was a substitute teacher and a youth pastor.
Mr. Steel has earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State University and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. He has served as an instructor for prospective foster parents at Granite State College for the past several years and states, “I am passionate about helping children find their highest potential, and foster care provides yet another mechanism to help realize that goal.” Additionally, Mr. Steel has served on the Board of Directors at HealthTrust, Inc. since December 2014.
Adam Steel will commence his responsibilities as Superintendent of Schools on July 1, 2018, at which time Peter Warburton will be concluding his seven years of distinguished service to SAU #39.
