SHS Community Council Seeks Amherst Community Member




The Community Council of Souhegan High School is currently looking for an interested Amherst community member to serve a one-year term on the Council. 


The Community Council, with its authority derived from and delegated by the school board, is charged with the purpose of acting as the governing body of all school affairs at Souhegan High School. It operates as a link between students, the community, the school board, and the faculty/staff of the school. There are 47 voting members of the Community Council. In addition to students, there are 10 faculty or staff, 10 At Large positions, 5 members of the communities of Amherst or Mont Vernon, one is a Dean of Student's position, and the remaining seat is held by a school board member. 


The Council meets as a body at Souhegan every Monday.  Three Mondays a month the meetings are held from 2:30 - 3:15 p.m.  One Monday of the month, Council meets in the evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  As a voting member of Community Council, you will be at the center of important deliberations and decision making and, most importantly, provide the vital communication link between the high school and the community.
