• Teacher Qualifications - Right to Know Request

    The federal education law put in place by the Elementary & Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires that all parents in a Title I school be notified and given the opportunity to request information about the professional qualifications of classroom teachers and paraprofessionals instructing their child.

    If you are interested in this information, you may send your request to Christine Landwehrle, Assistant Superintendent, (clandwehrle@sau39.org) who will provide a timely response.

    You may request, at a minimum, the following information:

    • Whether the student’s teacher:
      • has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;
      • is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived; and
      • is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.
    • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
