    Scout BSA Troop 6

    Scout BSA Troop 6:  Girls, join us! - Troop 6 is looking for adventurous girls that like to be outdoors and are up for a challenge.  Be one of the first girls in the US to earn your Eagle Rank! (Looks great on a resume).  We are up and running.  Come visit us at a meeting and see if this is something that is right for you.  You can look us up at www.scoutingforgirls.info  or email us at info@scoutingforgirls.info to get information on Troop 6.

    Scout BSA Troop 7

    Beginning February 1st, girls ages 11-17 will be welcomed into Scouts BSA, formally known as Boy Scouts of America. Troop 7 is the newly established all-girl troop that is charted by the Amherst Lions Club. Our leaders are dedicated, experienced, trained leaders who have been working diligently the past few months to establish the troop.     Book Clubs

    We have book clubs for all ages— If you’re interested, please contact Miss Sarah (shydorn@amherstlibrary.org or 673-2288)

    The Great Stone Face Reviewer’s Club (for 5th and 6th graders) gets together on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 to talk about the newest fiction titles that we’ve all been reading—then Miss Sarah passes these opinions on to the Great Stone Face Committee at the state level.  We’re an opinionated group that loves to read---and loves to talk about what we’re reading! This month’s meeting is on Mar. 6.

    Let’s Get Graphic Club (for 7th - 9th graders) gathers on the 3rd  Wednesday of each month to share opinions about the newest YA fiction titles we’re reading. If you love to read, and love to talk about what you’re reading, come and join us!  This month’s meeting is on Mar. 20.

    Come and explore our collection of S.T.E.M.-based activity kits: Snap-Circuits, Citiblocks, Ozmobots, and more… we make them available, you enjoy an opportunity for make-your-own fun!

    Ages 7 and up.  No registration required.

    Ever wonder about your child’s screen time… AUTHOR VISIT WITH NAOMI RILEY!! A Program for Parents.

    Please mark your calendars for this important program.  Ms. Riley is the author of Be the Parent, Please: Stop Banning Seesaws, and Start Banning Snapchat.   She will talk about her book and address the concerns we are beginning to feel about our children and the time they spend engaged with electronic devices.  We’ll learn what the latest research is showing about this issue, and also get some practical tips on how to set limits on your own children’s technology use.  Don’t miss this!

    SECOND ANNUAL PEEPS SHOW!

    Spring is almost here!  Time to start planning for the Amherst Town Library’s 2nd Annual PEEPS SHOW.  We had so much fun last year that we decided to do it again!  Look for the first sign of PEEPS and start planning your dioramas!  We will start accepting dioramas on April 1st.  “PEEP’les Choice” voting begins April 8th and our PEEPS PARTY will be on April 17th at 3:30pm.  Don’t wait until the last minute start your dioramas at the first sign of PEEPS!  For more information go to our website: www.amherstlibrary.org and click on the Children’s Room tab then look for the PEEPS page.
