Technology at AMS
We are well immersed into 21st century learning at the middle school. Technology at AMS is integrated throughout the building and in every classroom. All students (grades 5-8) have been given a school email account (email@example.com). Students can log into mail.sprise.com with their email account to access all of the MS Office 365 applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sway, OneNote, and OneDrive. OneDrive is our cloud online storage portal for student documents and files. Once students save their work to their OneDrive they can access those files from anywhere outside the school.See the detailed directions on the SAU website to install the software:
Students and parents sign an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) which covers appropriate digital citizenship and use while students are online. The technology teachers discuss good digital citizenship throughout their computer technology classes. All teachers model appropriate use of technology.
All student courses can be found in i39. To access itslearning (i39) students log on with their AMS username and password to: sau39.itslearning.com. All courses students are enrolled in will display on their dashboard. To see course specific material click inside the course.
Grade 7 and 8 students receive laptops for use (1 to 1) in each of their core curriculum classes. Grades 5 and 6 share a laptop cart between a team of two teachers.
All eighth grade students must complete a technology portfolio of work. This portfolio is a cummlative reflection of student work from grades five through eight.
SAFARI MONTAGESafari Montage is our library of educational video and other content for all grade levels. Until now the materials have been accessible only from within our school buildings. At this time we are pleased to announce that students can access the system from home or any computer with internet access. Best results can be achieved using Internet Explorer. The address for access is http://safari.sprise.com. When students access the system it will prompt them to install the Safari player. They should let it install and then access the site again to login using their student network login. The system will also require that Quicktime is installed on the computer. Most computers will already have it. If needed, Quicktime can be found at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/.
