8th Grade Mock Trial Unit
The eighth grade has worked all month preparing for our mock trial unit featuring the Boston Massacre. On March 5th (the anniversary of the actual Boston Massacre) the students from the Varsity and JV Souhegan Mock Trial Teams, along with Mr. Vassar, their coach, presented a "kick-off" event to our entire 8th grade. The high school students demonstrated all of the parts of a mock trial competition. This represents a fantastic connection between the middle school and the high school.
Every eighth grade student has a role as either a witness or a lawyer for the case of Rex V. Preston (The Boston Massacre). The defendant is Captain Thomas Preston. The actual trials were conducted this past week with Mrs. McCormick's classes and Mrs. Stack's classes. Our students have had many opportunities to work collaboratively both within their prosecution and defense teams, and across the 8th grade teams in general. We have had another great year of Mock Trial!
