    THE DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION SCHOLARSHIP

    DAR offers scholarships for:   

    Graduating high school seniors, college, and graduate students in varied areas of study.   

    Scholarship applications are accepted: November 1, 2021 – January 31, 2022 at 11:59 pm (EST) Applicants must be citizens of the United States of America (USA).  

    Applicants must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the USA.   

    Merit Scholarship   

    • Richard and Elizabeth Dean Scholarship:A $5,000 award to two  graduating high school seniors majoring in American Studies  must a have a minimum 4.0 GPA; renewable up to 4 years.  

    Political Science, History, Government    & Economics Scholarships   

    • Dr. Aura‐Lee A. and James Hobbs Pittenger American  History Scholarship: A $2,000 award to a graduating high school  senior  pursuing  study  in  American  history  or  American  government; renewable up to 4 years.   
    • Enid Hall Griswold Memorial Scholarship: A one‐time $1,000  award to 2 college juniors or seniors majoring in political science,  history, government, or economics (not awarded in 2022).  
    • DAR Centennial Scholarship: A one‐time $2,000 award to two  students pursuing post‐graduate studies in historical preservation.  
    • Lucinda Beneventi Findley History Scholarship:A one‐time $2,000 award to two graduating high school seniors with a  demonstrated interest or planning to major in history.   

    Medical and Nursing Scholarships   

    • Alice W. Rooke ScholarshipA one‐time $5,000 award to one  medical or osteopathic student (no pre‐med or physician  assistant [PA]). Students may reapply. Preference to females.   
    • Irene and Daisy McGregor Memorial ScholarshipA one‐time  $5,000 award to two medical or osteopathic students (no pre‐ med or PA); renewable up to 4 years. Preference to females.   
    • Dr. Francis Anthony Beneventi Medical Scholarship: A one‐time  $5,000 award to one medical or osteopathic student (no pre‐ med or PA). Students may reapply.   
    • Leslie Andree Hanna Medical Scholarship:one‐time preferred amount of $5,000 awarded to one female  medical or osteopathic student (no pre‐med or PA). Students  may reapply.   
    • Madeline Picket (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship:A one‐ time $2,500 award to two nursing students who are DAR members or descendants.   
    • Caroline E. Holt Nursing ScholarshipA one‐time $2,500 award  to three nursing students who have financial needs.   
    • Mildred Nutting Nursing ScholarshipA one‐time $2,000 award  to 2 nursing students with financial needs (not awarded in 2022). Occupational/Physical Therapy Scholarship: A one‐time $2,000 award to two OT, PT, art therapy or music therapy students who have financial needs.

          Specific Area of Study Scholarships  

    • Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship:A $2,000 award to daughter  or son of a DAR member; renewable up to 4 years.   
    • Arthur Lockwood Beneventi Law Scholarship: A one‐time $2,000  award for a student enrolled in law school. Student may reapply.   
    • Edward G. and Helen A. Borgens Elementary and Secondary Teacher Education: A one- time award up to $1,500.00 to two students over 25 years old or older studying to teach (one‐ elementary, one‐secondary education).  Students may reapply.   
    • Mary Elizabeth Lockwood Beneventi MBA Scholarship:A one-time award up to $2,000 to a full‐time graduate student majoring in business administration. Student may reapply.   
    • Margaret Howell Hamilton Scholarship: A $1,000 award to a graduating high school senior with disabilities accepted into the  Harvey and Bernice Jones Learning Center at the University of the Ozarks; renewable up to 4 years.  
    • Michael T. and Mary L. Cloyd Scholarship: A one‐time $3,000 award to two students, either a junior undergraduate or graduate level studying library science (not awarded in 2022).  
    • Nellie Love Butcher Music Scholarship: A one‐time award of up to $5,000.00 to a music student pursuing an education in voice or piano.  A performance piece to be submitted with the application.   
    • Robert Hunter Swadley Horticulture Scholarship: (California residents only):  

           A scholarship for a graduating high school senior majoring in horticulture.  Award amount is determined each year and may cover up to full tuition, room and board, and expenses. 

    • William Robert Findley Graduate Chemistry Scholarship: A one‐ time award to a graduate student majoring in chemistry. The  amount is determined each year.  Students may reapply.   
    • Leo W. and Alberta V. Utz Scholarship (English, Math, Science): A $4,000.00 award to three students (one-English, One-math, one-science); renewable up to 4 years (science,

           not awarded in 2022). 

    • America 250! Scholarship:A one‐time $5,000 award to up to four college students majoring in American history and having a minimum 3.75 GPA Applicants will also write an essay

          on the founding of our nation or their volunteer achievements for community and country. To be awarded in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.

    SOCIETY OF MANUFACTURING ENGINEERS SCHOLARSHIP

    Scholarship Value: $10,000.00

    Awards Available: 200

    Award Deadline: February 1st, 2022

    The SME Education Foundation annually awards millions of dollars in scholarships to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students pursuing two-year, four-year or advanced degrees in manufacturing or engineering.

    Eligibility Requirements for SME Education Foundation scholarships:

    A) Must be a graduating high school senior, current undergraduate or graduate student who will be enrolling as part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate student, attending accredited colleges or universities in the United States or Canada for the next fall term.

    B) Scholarships are only available to citizens of the U.S. and territories, citizens of Canada, students with permanent residency status in the U.S. (i.e. green card) or Canada, or applicants with a U.S. or Canadian student visa.

    C) Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or 70 on a 100 point (%) scale. Most scholarships have a minimum GPA of 3.0/80.

    D) Must be pursuing a degree in a qualifying major

    MCDONALD'S HACER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 

    Scholarship Value: $100,000.00

    ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION LEGACY AWARDS 

    Scholarship Value: $5,000.00

    Awards Available: 30

    Award Deadline: February 7th, 2022

    Legacy Awards are $4,000 scholarships available to children and grandchildren of Elks members. Eligibility requirements are outlined below.

    Who is Eligible?

    A) For the 2022 contest, any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2019, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2019, is eligible to apply. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2022. Great-grandchildren are not eligible.

    B) The applicant must be a high school senior.

    C) The applicant must apply online only. The 2022 Legacy Awards application deadline is February 7, 2022.

    D) If the applicant's parent and grandparent are both Elk members, the applicant must apply through the parent's Elks Lodge.

    E) We have waived the standardized test requirement for the 2022 Legacy contest. You do not need to submit ACT and/or SAT scores.

    F) Students may apply for more than one ENF scholarship; however, they may win only one. In cases where the student wins more than one, we will award the scholarship with the greater value. Students can accept local and state scholarships, which are separate from the awards at the national level.

    G) Legacy Awards may only be applied to accredited US American schools, colleges or universities. (Note: Applicants from Guam, Panama, Puerto Rico and the Philippines may apply Legacy Awards toward schools, colleges or universities in their respective homes.)

    H) If you are selected as a 2022 Legacy Awards recipient, you will be required to perform service once a year with an Elks Lodge during the four years you are receiving the scholarship

    MORTON GOULD YOUNG COMPOSRER AWARDS

    Scholarship Value: $5,000.00

    The Awards honor the late Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and The ASCAP Foundation's former president Morton Gould's lifelong commitment to encouraging young creators. Open to composers of original, concert music ("classical"), the Awards encourage developing music creators during the earliest stages of their careers.

    Eligibility Requirements

    The Awards are open to young composers (each, an "Entrant") who have not reached their 30th birthday by February 1, 2022. Entrants must also be, at the time of entry, a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or enrolled student with a valid and current U.S. student visa and at least 13 years of age.

    Minor Applicants: For Entrants under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in the state or country of their residence), such Entrant's parent or guardian will be required to complete and submit the Online Application (as defined below) on behalf of such Entrant and sign and submit a copy of the Parental Consent form available in the Online Application (see Submission Requirements below).

    Co-Writers: No co-written Submissions (as defined below) will be considered for this Award.

    Previous Recipients of Foundation Awards: Previous recipients of any Foundation award are eligible for consideration for the Awards but may only include in their Submission a work that was written after the work that was the subject of such previous award. However, previous recipients who have received one of the Morton Gould Young Composer Awards a total of three or more times in past years shall not be eligible for consideration for the Awards.

    One (1) Submission per Entrant. If multiple Submissions are received by the same Entrant, only the first Submission entered by that Entrant will qualify for entry into the Awards; subsequent Submissions entered by that Entrant shall be disqualified.

     GORDON A. RICH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

    Scholarship Value: $50,000.00

    Awards Available: 9

    Award Deadline: February 16th, 2022

    Requirements and Selection Process

    A) Applicants must be dependent children of full-time employees in the financial services industry (commercial banks, investment banks, securities brokerage firms, insurance companies, fund and asset management companies, credit card and finance companies and similar businesses as determined by the Foundation). Employees must be presently employed with five years of experience OR no longer employed in this field but had ten years of experience which ended no longer than five years prior to the GAR Scholarship application closing date (which is located on the top of the application).

    B) Students must be graduating high school seniors who are enrolling as full-time first year students in pursuit of a four-year bachelor's degree at an accredited college/university in the United States.

    C) Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and rank in the top 20% of their class.

    D) Students must demonstrate financial need.

    E) Students must be a US citizen or legal resident.

    VEGETARIAN RESOURCE GROUP SCHOLARSHIPS

    Scholarship Value: $10,000.00

    Award Deadline: February 20, 2022

    Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, The Vegetarian Resource Group each year will award $20,000 in college scholarship money to graduating U.S. high school students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or fowl. Vegans are vegetarians who do not use other animal products such as dairy or eggs.

    One award of $10,000 and two awards of $5,000 will be given. Entries may only be sent by students graduating from high school in SPRING 2022.

    Deadline is FEBRUARY 20, 2022.

    We will accept applications postmarked on or before FEBRUARY 20, 2022. Early submission is encouraged. We had 280 applications in 2019.

    Applicants will be judged on having shown compassion, courage, and a strong commitment to promoting a peaceful world through a vegetarian diet/lifestyle. Payment will be made to the student's college (U.S. based only). Winners of the scholarships give permission to release their names to the media.     SEMA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

    Every year, SEMA helps students pay for their college tuition and SEMA members pay off their student loans. Students from all academic and technical disciplines that lead to careers in the automotive industry are welcome to apply!

    HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP

    As one of the nation's largest college financial aid programs in the country, the Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program is one of the major scholarship programs nationally that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger members who, like the Scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders.

    The National Scholarship is awarded to eligible students in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. National Scholars receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C., during the spring of their senior year to participate in the National Scholars Conference. Recipients must attend the National Scholars Conference to receive the award.

    To be eligible to apply for the Horatio Alger National Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    A) Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States

    B) Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

    C) Demonstrate critical financial needs ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)

    D) Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities

    E) Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

    F) Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and

    G) Be a United States citizen

    KOCHHAR & CO. SCHOLARSHIP

    AVOMEEN MINORITIES IN STEM SCHOLARSHIP

    We value the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our staff, and the diversity of our team is a big part of what makes Avomeen's company culture so fantastic. Nearly half of our staff identify as minorities, and 43% of the leaders within our organization are minorities.  Two scholarships are available, one $2,500 scholarship for women pursuing undergrad STEM education and another $2,500 scholarship for minorities pursuing an undergraduate degree in STEM at a US-based college or university. 

    Scholarship applications will be judged on two factors: 

    The written statement

    Eligibility requirements, which include pursuing an undergraduate education at a US-based college or university for both scholarships. For the Women in STEM scholarship, the applicant must identify as a woman, and for the Minorities in STEM scholarship, the applicant must identify as a minority.

     NATIONAL DAIRY SHINE SCHOLARSHIPS

    Tomorrow's dairy leaders are here today, in classrooms, dairy youth organizations, at dairy competitions and on dairy farms across the country. The National Dairy Shrine's task is to encourage, stimulate and inspire them. Since its inception, National Dairy Shrine has recognized the importance of laying a foundation for the future, and has constantly expanded its youth programs to capture and challenge the interest of outstanding young dairy people. Dairy students, our future leaders, are eligible to apply for National Dairy Shrine college scholarships and recognition awards with grants totaling over $40,000 every year.

    All National Dairy Shrine scholarships and student awards are only for U.S. students attending schools, colleges or universities in the United States and majoring in dairy or other agricultural related fields.

    The LM Scholarship Program provides a $500 scholarship to a deserving student who is:

    1. Currently enrolled or expects to be enrolled in a degree program (2 years of length or greater) by September.

    2. A student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit an answer to the essay question prior to the submission deadline.

    3. A student must be a United States resident or a Canadian resident and must also attend a school in Canada or the US.

    ODENZA VACATIONS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

    Award Deadline: May 1st, 2022

    To be considered eligible for the Odenza Vacations College Scholarship you must:
    1) Be between the ages of 17 and 24 on September 1st, 2022.
    2) Submit an answer to the essay question, which can be found on the application page, prior to the May 1st, 2022 deadline.
    3) Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
    4) Be a resident of the United States or Canada.
    The scholarship winner will be announced roughly 6 weeks after the deadline and will be posted on this website immediately after. All applications must be received by 11:59 pm ET on the day of the deadline. No late applications will be reviewed.

    To be eligible for the Arctic Chiropractic "Got a Spine Scholarship", a student must:

    1) Be attending college or university no later than October of 2022.

    4) Be a U.S. or Canadian resident.

    5) Be attending a school in the U.S. or Canada by October of 2022.

     STEPHEN PHILLIPS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

    The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers renewable, four-year scholarships to students with financial needs who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, their community, or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities. This year, Phillips’ new and renewal awards total over $4 million, including over $450,000 for New Hampshire students for the 2021-2022 academic year. 

    2022-2023 Application Process: How to Apply” 

    New applications are now live on the website www.phillips-scholarship.org.

    The New High School Application and New College Application are due at noon on May 2, 2022.

    The Early Response Option for High School Students Application is due at noon on April 4, 2022.

    Phillips financial eligibility has been lowered from $8,000 to $7,000, see our calculator here. 

    Early Response Option 

    Students who have received the financial aid package from their preferred college may apply by April 4th and receive our decision before the May 1st college common reply date. We hope that this strategy allows students a better understanding of their finances before they select a school. We commit to reviewing the first 400 early applications that are filed; we have been able to review and respond to all early response applicants before May 1 each year.  

    The Fund offers renewable, 4-year scholarships to students from New England with financial needs. Successful candidates are those who display academic achievement, sustained service to others, good character, leadership qualities, and a history of part-time employment. We also value demonstrated grit and resiliency in students who have faced significant challenges. Applicants may be high school seniors, recent high school graduates or current college students.

    DESIGN THINKING SCHOLARSHIP 

    Scholarship Value: $500.00

    Award Deadline: July 31, 2022

    The American Graphics Institute offers multiple scholarships to encourage the use of design and creative thinking across various disciplines and fields. Several scholarships are available each year for students enrolled in any accredited post-secondary degree-granting program in the United States, including undergraduate and post-graduate programs. There are also separate scholarships available for students attending American Graphics Institute programs as well.

    Scholarships are awarded twice annually, in January and again in August of each year.

    The American Graphic Institute Design Thinking scholarship is offered to both part-time and full-time students enrolled in degree programs at any accredited college or university in the United States. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded twice annually, in January and August of each year. The goal of the scholarship is to encourage design thinking across various disciplines. Deadlines for scholarship submissions are July 31 and December 31. The scholarships are offered annually and on a rolling basis. Submissions are considered for the next available scholarship.

    To apply for the Design Thinking scholarship, submit an essay of between 500 and 1500 words describing how you anticipate design thinking or digital design tools will impact you and your career choice. The title of the essay must reflect how design thinking or design tools impact either you or your career choice.

    All scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements along with all other scholarship rules, including:

    A) Must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited two or four-year college or university located in the United States for the Design Thinking Scholarship. This can be any accredited college or university, and it is not limited to students of the American Graphics Institute.

    B) One scholarship application per person may be submitted during each scholarship period.

    C) The scholarship winner must be a legal resident of the United States or hold a valid student visa.

    D) A completed scholarship application form must be submitted.

    E) Scholarship winners are decided exclusively by the scholarship committee at the American Graphics Institute. Scholarship winners are contacted two weeks following the submission deadline, in mid-January and mid-September of each year.

    To be eligible for the "Arctic Physical Therapy Scholarship", a student must:

    1) Be attending college or university no later than January of 2023.

    2) Be attending college or university on a full-time or part-time basis by January of 2023.

    3) Have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or greater during their last academic year.

    *Note that you can be enrolled in any field of study.
